Former announcer and broadcaster Jang Seong-kyu has expressed his stance regarding allegations that he was complicit in the bullying suffered by the late Oh Yoanna, despite being aware of it.
On the 5th, Jang Seong-kyu stated on his channel, "I am sorry that I could only mourn in my heart after learning about the deceased's news late last December. Although it is late, I hope that the deceased's injustice is resolved and that they find peace there, and that the bereaved family finds comfort."
He continued, "When my name was first mentioned, I was upset because the content was not true, but I judged that my pain was nothing compared to the suffering of the deceased and the bereaved family, so I chose to remain silent instead of correcting it."
He added, "As more netizens began to interpret that silence as me acknowledging it, negative comments started appearing on my social media. Eventually, negative comments about my family began to surface, and in order to fulfill my role as a protector, I limited the ability to comment to my followers. However, netizens who judged this as 'the thief feeling guilty' escalated their attacks."
Jang Seong-kyu requested, "I believe it is wrong to try to resolve my small injustice before the deceased's injustice is resolved. However, I humbly ask that negative comments about my family be refrained from until everything is resolved."
On the 31st of last month, a recording of a phone call with an MBC official released by the YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Research Institute' sparked controversy, as it contained claims that the accused Kim Ga-young had instigated conflict between the late Oh Yoanna and Jang Seong-kyu.
