The news of the death of Seo Hee-won (Hsu Shih-yuan), the wife of Gu Jun-yeop from the group Clon, has left those close to her in deep sorrow.
On the 3rd, local media such as ET Today and the Central News Agency of Taiwan (CNA) reported, citing Seo Hee-won's sister Hsu Shih-ti, that she passed away from pneumonia caused by the flu while traveling in Japan. She was 48 years old.
In relation to this, Gu Jun-yeop expressed his grief in a phone call with a media outlet, saying, “I’m not okay.” He also could not hide his sorrow regarding the rumors of fake news, stating, “It’s not fake news.”
In particular, Wang Shao-bi, a Chinese businessman known to be Seo Hee-won's ex-husband, also rushed to Taiwan and expressed his condolences, saying, “She will always be my family,” and asked for “better words to be said about her.”
Additionally, Wang Yu-chung, a Taiwanese film producer known to be a close friend of Seo Hee-won, conveyed his condolences, stating, “(Seo Hee-won’s) family is in deep sorrow over her death. Her mother has requested that we help protect her daughter’s privacy so that her wishes can be fulfilled. Please refrain from following the family when they return from Japan to Taiwan.”
On that day, Hsu Shih-ti stated through local media, “During the Lunar New Year holiday, our family went on a trip to Japan, and my beloved sister Hsu Shih-yuan sadly left us due to complications from pneumonia caused by the flu.”
She continued, “It was a great blessing for me to be able to be with my sister as her younger sibling in this life, caring for and relying on each other. I will forever be grateful and deeply miss her. I hope she rests in peace. I will love and remember her forever.”
Currently, Seo Hee-won's family is staying in Japan, and the funeral is expected to be held there. After completing all funeral procedures, the family plans to transfer her remains to Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Gu Jun-yeop and Kang Won-rae, a member of Clon, also expressed their disbelief through a domestic media outlet, saying, “I can’t believe it. I sent a confirmation text to Gu Jun-yeop asking, ‘Isn’t this fake news again?’ Last year, when I came to Korea, we had a great time with the kids, and we talked about meeting in Taiwan.”
He added, “I confirmed during the divorce rumors, and there were so many fake news stories that the two of them were having a hard time. I hoped this would be fake news too.”

Seo Hee-won debuted in 1994 with her sister as part of the group ‘SOS’. She is also famous for playing the lead role in the Taiwanese version of the drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’. In Korea, she was known as ‘Taiwanese Geum Jan-di’, named after the lead female character in a domestic drama.
Gu Jun-yeop and Seo Hee-won first met in 1998 and were in a relationship until the early 2000s before breaking up. Later, Seo Hee-won married Chinese businessman Wang Xiao-fei in 2011 and had a daughter and a son, but they separated in 2021. During this time, Gu Jun-yeop reached out to Seo Hee-won again, and they got married in 2022.
Gu Jun-yeop appeared on the SBS entertainment show ‘Shoe Off, Dolsing for Men’ last April, where he shared their love story and episodes from their newlywed life, drawing attention.
