'Mickey 17' (directed by Bong Joon-ho) is maintaining its throne even on weekdays, but the number of viewers has dropped to 50,000.
According to the integrated computer network of the Korean Film Council on the morning of the 11th, 'Mickey 17' attracted 52,079 viewers the previous day, bringing its cumulative audience to 2,150,644.
The film, which successfully surpassed 2 million viewers in the shortest time this year, ranked first in the North American box office last weekend, but there is a growing sentiment of 'box office failure' locally.
On the 9th, the American entertainment media Variety published an article titled 'Blockbuster Mickey 17 Box Office Failure.' The media stated, "The film has generated $53.3 million in revenue worldwide, but it cost too much to be profitable. Warner Brothers supported a production cost of $118 million, and additionally provided $80 million for marketing. Therefore, 'Mickey 17' needs to earn between $275 million and $300 million worldwide to be in the black," it analyzed. Deadline also pointed out, "Unfortunately, the revenue of this original sci-fi film has not reached the level that Warner Brothers expected."
In 2nd place is 'Conclave,' which attracted 7,072 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience to 82,164. 3rd place goes to 'Exorcism,' which was chosen by 5,522 viewers, with a cumulative audience of about 390,000. 4th place is the Marvel superhero film 'Captain America: Brave New World' (hereafter 'Captain America 4'), with a cumulative audience of about 1.63 million.
The real-time ticket sales leader is 'Attack on Titan: The Last Attack,' which has surpassed 'Mickey 17.' Following that are 'Mickey 17,' 'Invasion,' and 'Novotain' in order.
