Actress Song Hye-kyo challenged the role of a nun and said, “It seems like it would require great courage.”
On the afternoon of the 20th, at the press screening and media conference for ‘The Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) held at the Samsung Megabox COEX in Seoul, when asked if she would like to experience the life of a nun in the film, she replied, “I thought about how far I could go to save a child. I wondered if I could do what Sister Unia did, even though she’s not family.”
She continued, “I thought it might be possible because she is a nun. In that sense, I don’t think I could live as a nun. It seems like it requires great courage. Just looking at Sister Unia.”
Jeon Yeo-bin also added, “I think I naturally asked myself that question too. It seems really difficult. It feels like a choice I couldn’t dare to make.”
Director Kwon Hyuk-jae mentioned, “I understand that the production company that made ‘The Black Priests’ has been planning and working on this for a long time. The intense reading felt overwhelming,” and added, “The lingering impact of the ending was tremendous, so I tried to stay true to the script. I worked hard to create it step by step with great actors and an excellent staff.”
The work is a sequel to ‘The Black Priests,’ which opened a new chapter in Korean occult films, and is a new project from the production company that created ‘The Black Priests,’ ‘The Day the Country Went Bankrupt,’ ‘Master,’ and ‘Broker.’ It tells the story of people who embark on a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.
This is also Song Hye-kyo's comeback to the screen after 10 years since ‘My Life is a Whirlwind’ (2014). Director Kwon Hyuk-jae, who directed ‘Count’ and ‘The Solver,’ is at the helm.
It will be released on the 24th.
