Seo Hee-won, the wife of Clon’s Gu Jun-yeop, will be interred in a tree burial.
According to Taiwanese media including ET Today on the 8th, Seo Hee-won's younger brother, Seo Hee-je, stated that Seo Hee-won's ashes, which were brought back from Japan by Gu Jun-yeop and family, will be interred in a tree burial, a type of natural burial.
Seo Hee-je mentioned through the agency, “I remember that Seo Hee-won expressed her wish for an eco-friendly tree burial if she were to pass away. Therefore, we are in the process of applying for it,” adding, “If the application is approved, we will return my beloved sister’s remains to nature.” Currently, Seo Hee-won's ashes are temporarily housed at her residence in Taiwan.
Seo Hee-won suddenly passed away on the 2nd during a family trip to Japan due to pneumonia accompanying the flu.
On the 6th, Gu Jun-yeop shared his feelings on social media after moving the deceased's ashes to Taiwan, stating, “Right now, I am going through a time of indescribable sadness and pain, feeling as if my insides are being torn apart. I have no strength to speak and do not want to.”
Regarding the late Seo Hee-won's legacy, he explained, “All of that legacy was gathered through her hard work to protect her beloved family during her lifetime, so I plan to give all rights to my mother-in-law,” adding, “I will take legal measures to ensure that the children’s rights are protected through a lawyer until they become adults, so that no bad people can touch them.”
Gu Jun-yeop expressed, “The time I spent with Hee-won is a precious and invaluable gift that cannot be exchanged for anything in the world,” and added, “I believe that protecting the family that Hee-won loved the most is the last thing I can do. Lastly, I would like to bow my head in gratitude once again to everyone who loved and mourned our Hee-won.”
Seo Hee-won dated Gu Jun-yeop for about two years in the late 1990s before they broke up. She married Chinese businessman Wang Shao-fei in 2011, but they separated in 2021. After hearing this news, Gu Jun-yeop reached out to Seo Hee-won, and they reunited, marrying in 2022. Their movie-like love story became a topic of interest in both Korea and Taiwan.
