The remains of the late Seo Hee-won returned to Taiwan today (6th).
According to local media reports in Taiwan, including ET Today, Gu Jun-yeop transported Seo Hee-won's ashes to Taiwan today with his sister-in-law and broadcaster Seo Hee-je (Xu Shidi).
Seo Hee-je stated through an agency, "He (Seo Hee-won) has safely arrived home. I believe that even at this moment, he is happy and worry-free in heaven."
She continued, "We do not plan to hold a farewell ceremony for Seo Hee-won because he was always a humble person. If you miss him, please keep him in your heart. Our family is grateful for all the love shown to Seo Hee-won."
Earlier, Seo Hee-won suddenly passed away from pneumonia accompanied by the flu while on a family trip in Japan on the 2nd. The family completed the cremation process for the deceased in Japan. According to Japanese funeral regulations, the body must be cremated within three days.
Seo Hee-won debuted in 1994 with her brother in the group 'SOS' and is also famous for being the female lead in the Taiwanese drama 'Boys Over Flowers.' In Korea, she is known as 'Taiwanese Geum Jan-di,' named after the female lead in a domestic drama.
Seo Hee-won also drew attention for her movie-like love story with Gu Jun-yeop. Seo Hee-won dated Gu Jun-yeop for about two years in the late 1990s before breaking up, and later married Chinese businessman Wang Shao-bi (Wang Xiao-fei) in 2011. However, they faced a divorce in 2021, and upon hearing this news, Gu Jun-yeop reached out to Seo Hee-won, leading to their reunion. After 20 years of waiting, the two became a couple in 2022, but their tragic separation came just three years later.
