Seo Hee-won (Hsu Shih-yuan), the wife of Koo Jun-yup from the group Clon, has suddenly passed away, and her mother has made a heartfelt request not to film the deceased's final return.
On the 3rd, local media such as ET Today and the Central News Agency (CNA) reported, citing Seo Hee-won’s younger sister Hsu Shih-ti (Seo Hee-je), that she passed away from pneumonia caused by the flu while traveling in Japan. She was 48 years old. The cremation process has already been completed, and Seo Hee-won’s family is currently preparing to transport her back to Taiwan from Japan.
In the meantime, Seo Hee-won’s mother released a statement through a close Taiwanese film producer, Wang Yu-chung. Wang stated, “The family is in deep sorrow due to Seo Hee-won’s sudden death. Please understand that we cannot explain the current situation in detail,” adding, “We are going through several complicated procedures to transport Seo Hee-won back to Taiwan, and the family cannot return for the time being.”
She also mentioned that the deceased had been worried about being filmed by the press during her lifetime, saying, “When the family returns to Taiwan with Seo Hee-won, please do not film or follow us at the airport. This was Seo Hee-won’s lifelong wish, so we hope for your understanding.”
Seo Hee-won debuted in 1994 with her sister as part of the group ‘SOS’. She is also well-known for playing the lead role in the Taiwanese drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’. In Korea, she became known as ‘Taiwanese Geum Jan-di’, named after the lead female character in a domestic drama.
Koo Jun-yup and Seo Hee-won first met in 1998 and were in a relationship until the early 2000s before breaking up. Later, Seo Hee-won married Chinese businessman Wang Xiao-fei in 2011 and had a daughter and a son, but they separated in 2021. During this time, Koo Jun-yup reached out to Seo Hee-won again, and they got married in 2022.
On the 3rd, Seo Hee-won’s close friend Jia Yongjie shared her last moments, adding to the sorrow. Jia said, “Upon hearing the news, I immediately took the Shinkansen to see her. You looked peaceful and seemed to be sleeping beautifully as always,” and added, “It hurts my heart, but I had to let you go. No matter how much I cried, I couldn’t wake you up.” She also mentioned, “In the end, oppa (Koo Jun-yup) said a tender goodbye with a deep kiss. Our hearts were torn by his cries.”
