MBC weathercaster the late Oh Yoanna has been accused of being bullied at work during her lifetime, and the fallout has affected her senior, Kim Ga-young.
On the 27th, Maeil Newspaper reported that a suicide note spanning 17 pages was found in Oh Yoanna's mobile phone notes. The note reportedly contains complaints about workplace bullying from two specific weathercasters.
According to the note, Oh Yoanna was bullied starting in March 2022 after becoming a freelance weathercaster at MBC in May 2021. One colleague, who joined the company earlier, allegedly made a mistake and blamed it on Oh Yoanna, while another colleague criticized her for pointing out incorrect weather information, saying, “How dare a junior point out a senior.”
Additionally, in a messenger conversation, one weathercaster reportedly called Oh Yoanna to the office after working hours, claiming it was necessary to teach her, and there were instances where she was prevented from leaving for about 1 to 1.5 hours.
Some have publicly named the two individuals suspected of bullying the late Oh Yoanna, and posts identifying the perpetrators are being shared.
However, it seems that innocent victims are also being created. Some netizens have visited Kim Ga-young's personal account, leaving comments such as “Who is the perpetrator?”, “Is there any relation to workplace bullying?”, and “Please confess your conscience.”
A YouTuber and acquaintance of Kim Ga-young, Ilju Eoter, stated, “Sister Ga-young was really struggling with the fact that she couldn’t protect Oh Yoanna,” and added, “I had a chance to work out with Oh Yoanna once, and when I met her, she sincerely told me that she really liked and relied on sister Ga-young.”
