Actor Yoo Ah-in (38, real name Um Hong-sik), who is facing charges of habitual drug use, has been sought a 4-year prison sentence by the prosecution in the second trial, the same as in the first trial.

On the 24th, during the second trial's sentencing hearing at the Seoul High Court's Criminal Division 5 (Presiding Judge Kwon Soon-hyung, Ahn Seung-hoon, Shim Seung-woo), the prosecution requested the court to impose a 4-year prison sentence on Yoo Ah-in, the same as the first trial's sentencing recommendation, for habitual use of propofol and illegal prescription of sleeping pills in another person's name. They also requested a fine of 2 million won and a confiscation of 1.54 million won.

In the previous first trial, the prosecution also sought a 4-year prison sentence, but the first trial court sentenced Yoo Ah-in to 1 year in prison and ordered his immediate detention in September.

Yoo Ah-in was indicted for using propofol 181 times from September 2020 to March last year and for illegally purchasing sleeping pills under another person's name from May 2021 to August last year.

He is also accused of illegally obtaining over 1,100 doses of two types of sleeping pills under another person's name 44 times from May 2021 to August last year. Additionally, he faces charges of smoking marijuana in the U.S. with four others, including Choi, in January of this year and instructing others to smoke.

The first trial court found him guilty of charges including marijuana smoking, habitual use of medical narcotics, and habitual purchasing under another person's name. However, they ruled him not guilty of the charges of instructing others to smoke marijuana and instructing the destruction of evidence due to insufficient evidence.
