The operator of the YouTube channel ‘Anti-Fandom Facility’ has appealed the first-instance ruling ordering them to pay 30 million won to singer Kang Daniel.

According to Newsis on the 16th, the operator A of ‘Anti-Fandom Facility’ submitted an appeal to the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 29, which heard the first-instance damages lawsuit filed by Kang Daniel on the 12th.

In the first-instance civil lawsuit held on the 27th of last month, the court ruled that operator A of ‘Anti-Fandom Facility’ must compensate the plaintiff Kang Daniel with 30 million won.

Prior to this, Kang Daniel had filed a damages lawsuit seeking 100 million won against A, and the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 29 ruled on the 27th of last month that “the defendant must pay the plaintiff 30 million won.”

In response, Kang Daniel's side pointed out that “considering the nature of the illegal act, the method of the crime, and the mental suffering of the artist due to continuous and repeated exposure, the ruling is excessively lenient,” expressing their intention to appeal.

A was indicted for posting a false video titled ‘The Scandalous Private Life of the Nation's Boyfriend Actor Idol’ on their channel in 2022. During the trial, A admitted to producing and posting the video but claimed, “I thought the content of the video was true.”

A is also facing separate charges of defamation (under the Information and Communications Network Act) for posting 23 YouTube videos defaming seven celebrities, including IVE member Jang Won-young, from October 2021 to June 2023, and was indicted without detention in May.

The first-instance damages lawsuit filed by BTS members V and Jungkook against Park, along with their agency Big Hit Music, is also ongoing since March.
