Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the 16th. The first person to discover her was a friend who was scheduled to meet her that day. It is reported that the friend visited Kim Sae-ron's house, found her, and called the police. She was 25 years old.
The mortuary for Kim Sae-ron has been set up in Room 7 of the Seoul Asan Hospital funeral hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul, with her parents and her siblings, actors Kim Ah-ron and Kim Ye-ron, listed as the bereaved family.
The funeral procedures and wake are expected to be conducted privately, in accordance with the family's wish to hold the funeral as quietly as possible. In this regard, a close associate who spent a lot of time with Kim Sae-ron until recently stated, "Sae-ron was struggling a lot during her life," and added, "She was tormented by articles until the moment she left, and we don't want to cause her any more pain. I believe the family feels the same way."

Meanwhile, on the 17th, a police official stated during a regular briefing at the National Investigation Headquarters regarding the investigation into Kim Sae-ron's death, "We believe she made an extreme choice. We plan to handle it as a death case." Regarding the existence of a suicide note, the police added, "None has been found," and stated, "There is nothing particularly noteworthy in the investigation."
