Actor Choo Young-woo has emerged as the ‘binge-watching icon’ during the Lunar New Year holiday.
During the holiday period, Netflix's top 10 popular series in South Korea included the Netflix series ‘Severe Trauma Center’ and JTBC’s ‘The Lady in Dignity,’ showcasing Choo Young-woo's rising popularity.
In particular, according to Netflix, ‘Severe Trauma Center’ has shown remarkable popularity, ranking third in the global TV shows (non-English) category just three days after its release, alongside a steep rise in viewership in South Korea.

First, Choo Young-woo delivered a strong presence in the recently concluded ‘The Lady in Dignity,’ where he played dual roles as Cheon Seung-hwi, a heavenly electric man, and Seong Yoon-gyeom, the eldest son of a noble family. Among these, Cheon Seung-hwi created an unprecedented character as ‘Joseon’s greatest romantic man,’ who risks his life for his loved one, capturing the viewers' hearts.
Following that, Choo Young-woo attempted a new acting transformation through ‘Severe Trauma Center.’ He took on the role of Yang Jae-won, who follows Baek Kang-hyuk (played by Ju Ji-hoon) and evolves into a true severe trauma specialist. Yang Jae-won struggles every moment to secure the ‘golden hour’ for patients on the brink of life and death. His portrayal of running for patients and shedding tears for them has been praised for its humanitarian depth.
Thanks to this rapid rise, various online communities and social media platforms have seen fans reviewing Choo Young-woo's filmography. Choo Young-woo, who seamlessly transitions between historical and modern dramas, has built a solid filmography, portraying characters with different charms in each work, thus establishing deep trust as an actor and signaling the start of a full-fledged ‘Choo Young-woo fever.’
