Chinese film director Wang Zhiqi has come under fire from netizens after mentioning Koo Jun-yup of the group Clon.
According to local media such as Taiwan's ET Today on the 9th (local time), Wang Zhiqi referred to Koo Jun-yup as a “hypocritical person,” drawing criticism from netizens.
Wang Zhiqi opened up on social media, stating that he was a fan of Koo Jun-yup's late wife, Seo Hee-won.
Expressing his sorrow over the news of Seo Hee-won's passing, Wang Zhiqi went on to discuss Koo Jun-yup. He referred to Koo Jun-yup as an “old Korean” and claimed, “I cannot accept his hypocritical public statement. He only shows a calculative demeanor without the pain of losing a loved one.”
He added, “Please respect Seo Hee-won and let her rest.”
The media reported that netizens criticized Wang Zhiqi by mentioning his past romantic controversies in response to his comments.
Seo Hee-won passed away from pneumonia during a trip to Japan on the 2nd. Following her death, attention has turned to her estate. According to local media, Seo Hee-won left behind real estate worth approximately 25 billion won, including the National Museum site and a penthouse (worth 16 billion won), as well as a total of 120 billion won in assets after dividing property with her ex-husband Wang Shaobi.
After Seo Hee-won's passing, Koo Jun-yup stated regarding her estate, “All of that inheritance was accumulated through the hard work of my beloved Hee-won to protect her family, so I intend to give all authority to my mother-in-law,” adding, “I will take legal measures to ensure that the children’s rights are protected by a lawyer until they become adults, so that bad people cannot touch it.”
Wang Zhiqi showed a critical attitude towards Koo Jun-yup's stance, but ended up facing backlash from netizens instead.
