The movie ‘Hitman 2’ (Director Choi Won-seop) and ‘The Black Nuns’ (Director Kwon Hyuk-jae) are on the verge of breaking even, while Ha Jung-woo's new film ‘Broken’ (Director Kim Jin-hwang) is set to launch.
According to the integrated computer network for movie ticket sales from the Korean Film Council on the 5th, ‘Hitman 2’ attracted 38,669 viewers the previous day, bringing its total audience to 2,049,700. The break-even point is approximately 2.3 million.
In second place is Song Hye-kyo's ‘The Black Nuns’ (Director Kwon Hyuk-jae), which received 24,747 viewers on the same day, bringing its total audience to 1,482,749. The break-even point is 1.6 million.
Third place goes to ‘Secret That Cannot Be Told’ (Director Seo Yu-min), which attracted 21,194 viewers, bringing its total audience to about 390,000. The break-even point for this film is around 800,000, making it the lowest among the films released during the Lunar New Year holiday, but it has consistently recorded single-digit audience numbers since its release, showing a slow box office performance.
Fourth place is ‘Substance,’ which attracted 5,586 viewers and is on the verge of surpassing 400,000 total viewers. It demonstrates the power of a small but strong film.
In real-time reservation rates, Ha Jung-woo's ‘Broken’ is in the lead. Following it are ‘Secret That Cannot Be Told,’ ‘Hitman 2,’ and ‘The Black Nuns.’ As the box office momentum of the films released during the Lunar New Year holiday wanes, ‘Broken’ is expected to change the throne with its new entry.
