The films ‘Hitman 2’ (directed by Choi Won-seop) and ‘The Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) are both on the verge of breaking even, enjoying a double success at the box office, while Ha Jung-woo is set to join the competition as a new contender.
According to the integrated computer network for movie ticket sales from the Korean Film Council on the 4th, ‘Hitman 2’ attracted 42,294 viewers the previous day, bringing its total audience to 2,011,039. It is expected to surpass the break-even point (2.3 million) this week.
In second place is Song Hye-kyo’s ‘The Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae), which received 27,624 viewers on the same day, bringing its total audience to 1,458,005. It is also expected to exceed the break-even point (1.6 million) this week.
However, in third place, ‘Secret That Cannot Be Told’ (directed by Seo Yu-min) is showing signs of poor performance. It attracted 20,026 viewers, with a cumulative audience of about 370,000. The break-even point for the film is around 800,000, which is the lowest among the films released during the Lunar New Year holiday, but it has consistently recorded single-digit audience numbers since its release, resulting in disappointing results.
Fourth place goes to ‘Substance,’ which has surpassed ‘Harbin’ (directed by Woo Min-ho). It attracted 6,296 viewers, successfully making a comeback and demonstrating the power of a small but strong film. Its cumulative audience is about 380,000.
The real-time advance booking rate is led by ‘Broken,’ which is set to be released a day later. Following it are ‘Secret That Cannot Be Told,’ ‘The Black Nuns,’ and ‘Hitman 2’ in order.
