Son Ho-jun shared his thoughts on participating in ‘Killing Caesar’.

On the afternoon of the 30th, a public rehearsal event for the play ‘Killing Caesar’ was held at the Next Lab of the Chungmu Art Center in Jung-gu, Seoul. After a demonstration of key scenes, a discussion was held with director Kim Jung, writer Oh Se-hyuk, and cast members Kim Jun-won, Son Ho-jun, Yang Ji-woon, and Yoo Seung-ho.

The play ‘Killing Caesar’ is based on Shakespeare's ‘Julius Caesar’ and reinterprets it as a modern play focusing on Caesar's assassination. It depicts the irony that the justification of ‘assassinating Caesar to protect the republic’ ultimately gives rise to another dictator.

Son Ho-jun, who plays Caesar, stated, “The main reason I decided to start theater was that I thought the learning I gain from communicating with theater actors and audiences while doing theater is significant. I learned a lot and felt a lot of charm while doing ‘Angels in America’. When I received the script for ‘Killing Caesar’, it came to me as very attractive, which led me to choose it. Indeed, I have learned a lot during the rehearsal process and continue to learn.”

For the role of Caesar, who is an absolute leader of Rome but is assassinated before ascending to the throne, Kim Jun-won and Son Ho-jun have been cast. Yang Ji-woon has been cast as Cassius, who is conflicted between political ambition and the justification of protecting the republic, while Yoo Seung-ho plays the idealist Brutus, who struggles with the dilemma of betraying a friend for the ideals of the republic.

‘Killing Caesar’ will be performed at the Mary Hall Grand Theater of Sogang University from May 10 to July 20.
