Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi has suffered from unauthorized use of his likeness.
On the 15th, Lee Seung-gi's agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, released an official statement saying, “Recently, it has been confirmed that an internet investment site has unlawfully used our artist Lee Seung-gi's likeness for false advertising.”
They continued, “The site is inducing investments with phrases like friend recommendations and investor recruitment, and is using images of Lee Seung-gi without permission, making it seem as if he is a model for the company,” and added, “We are currently in the process of sending a notice to the site operator and taking all legal actions, including filing a lawsuit.”
The agency urged, “Lee Seung-gi has no connection with the company, and we ask everyone to be particularly cautious about the unauthorized use of his likeness and the investment inducement.”
They further stated, “We will not tolerate illegal acts that unlawfully use our artist's likeness. We will continue to take legal action without leniency to protect Lee Seung-gi's likeness and prevent public harm.”
Meanwhile, Lee Seung-gi recently won a first trial in a lawsuit regarding settlement money against his former agency Hook Entertainment (now Chogokbam Media). The court ordered Hook Entertainment to pay Lee Seung-gi an additional 581 million won.
