
Baek Jong-won, the CEO of The Born Korea and a broadcaster, has donated 100 million won to support the victims of the forest fire.
The Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kim Byung-jun) announced on the 27th that Baek Jong-won donated 100 million won to support the victims of the recent forest fire in the Yeongnam region.
Baek Jong-won stated, “I hope this small help can assist those who have lost their precious homes due to the forest fire,” and added, “I wish for the safety of all those, including firefighters, who are dedicated on the scene.”
Baek Jong-won became the 2,409th member of the Honor Society, a group of high-value donors for the Community Chest of Korea, in September 2020. By participating in this special fundraising, he will reach the status of the first Honor Society Gold member (with a cumulative donation of 500 million won) by 2025.
It has been reported that the simultaneous forest fire situation in the Gyeongsang region has resulted in 26 deaths and a total of 56 casualties.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters on the 27th, as of 6 AM that day, the casualties included 26 dead, 8 seriously injured, and 22 with minor injuries.
By region, Gyeongbuk had the highest number of casualties with 22 dead, 3 seriously injured, and 16 with minor injuries, totaling 41. Gyeongnam reported 4 dead, 5 seriously injured, and 4 with minor injuries, totaling 13, while Ulsan had 2 with minor injuries.
