The sudden news of singer Wheesung's (43, real name Choi Wheesung) passing has led to mourning among his colleagues in the entertainment industry.
On the 10th, Harisu shared a photo of Wheesung on social media, expressing his condolences with the message, "I sincerely pray for the repose of the deceased." Rapper San E posted, "Rest in peace hyung..."
Changmo expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you for having a great influence on my life with your wonderful music. I pray for the repose of the deceased," while sharing Wheesung's song "Morning" in tribute.
Wheesung passed away suddenly on the 10th, at the age of 43. His agency, Tajo Entertainment, released an official statement saying, "We are sorry to convey such heartbreaking and tragic news," and added, "On March 10th, our artist Wheesung left us. He was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead."
They continued, "In light of this sudden news, his family, as well as fellow artists and staff at Tajo Entertainment, are mourning with heavy hearts. It is very painful to convey this unfortunate news to the fans who have given him unwavering support and love. We ask that you pray for his peaceful rest."
According to police and fire authorities, they responded to a family report and found Wheesung dead at his home at 6:29 PM. It is believed that he was discovered a significant time after his death. The police stated, "So far, there are no signs of external intrusion or criminal suspicion," and "The investigation is ongoing regarding the presence of a suicide note and the specific circumstances of his death."
Wheesung debuted in 2002 with "Ain't It?" and gained immense popularity with numerous hit songs such as "With Me," "The Day We Meet Again," "Incurable Disease," "In a Year," "A Heart-Wrenching Story," "I Even Thought About Marriage," "Love is Delicious," and "Insomnia."
In 2019, Wheesung was indicted for purchasing propofol 12 times and administering it at hotels and other locations over 10 occasions, receiving a sentence of 1 year in prison with a 2-year probation.
