Seohuiwon (Hsu Shih-yuan), the wife of male duo Clon's Gu Jun-yeop (55), has tragically passed away from pneumonia while on a family trip to Japan, leading to mourning from her ex-husband and colleagues.
On the 3rd, Taiwanese media, including the Central News Agency (CNA), reported that Seohuiwon died from pneumonia accompanied by the flu during a family trip in Japan.
Seohuiwon's younger sister, broadcaster Seohui-je (Hsu Shih-ti, 46), conveyed a message through her agency to local media, stating, “My sister has sadly left us due to the flu and pneumonia. I am grateful that we could take care of each other as sisters in this life. I will always be thankful and miss her. I hope she has a wonderful journey; I love her.”
Upon hearing the news of Seohuiwon's passing, her ex-husband, Chinese tycoon Wang Xiaofei, changed his social media profile picture to black as a sign of mourning.
Additionally, popular Taiwanese actor Wu Zhongxuan expressed his condolences, saying, “I hope she has a good journey.” Zhu Xiaotian, who co-starred with the deceased in the drama ‘Meteor Garden,’ posted, “A bolt from the blue,” revealing his shock. Chinese actor Hu Bing stated, “This news is unbelievable,” and added, “You will always be our eternal Shan Cai and our little princess,” as condolences continued from her colleagues in the Chinese-speaking world.
Earlier, a Japanese netizen posted on Facebook on the night of the 2nd that a famous Taiwanese star had passed away and that an official announcement would follow, drawing attention. The next day, news of Seohuiwon's death was reported by Taiwanese media, bringing shock and sadness.
Seohuiwon, known for her role as the female lead in the Taiwanese version of ‘Boys Over Flowers,’ was also loved by Koreans as ‘Gu Jun-yeop's wife.’ Gu Jun-yeop and Seohuiwon met in 1998 and dated for a year before drifting apart due to their careers. Later, after Seohuiwon married and divorced Wang Xiaofei, Gu Jun-yeop reconnected with her after more than 20 years, reuniting like a scene from a movie.
The two married in 2022, finally tying the knot, but tragically faced separation after just three years, leading netizens to express their sorrow, hoping it was “fake news.”
