Kim Ga-young, an MBC weathercaster, has been implicated as one of the perpetrators of workplace bullying against the late Oh Yoanna, and SBS has stated its position regarding her participation in ‘Golddalnyeo’.
On the 3rd, an SBS official told Maeil Business Star Today, “No decision has been made regarding Kim Ga-young’s departure from ‘Golddalnyeo’ (hereafter ‘Golddalnyeo’),” and added, “We are waiting for the results of the investigation.”
The deceased's family revealed through JTBC’s ‘Incident Control Room’ aired on the 31st of last month that there exists a group messenger chat among four weathercasters, excluding Oh Yoanna and her fellow weathercaster, out of the six MBC weathercasters. They claimed, “In addition to the two identified weathercasters, there are two more perpetrators.” The disclosed conversation included remarks such as “She’s completely crazy. Let’s leave the group chat,” “She smells bad. XX is just too much,” “Another XX,” “(‘The Glory’) Yeon-jin did well on the show,” and “Victim cosplay. We are the victims.” Although the names of those involved were not disclosed in the broadcast, their real names were revealed through the YouTube channel ‘Garo-Setaro Research Institute’.
After being identified as one of the four perpetrators, Kim Ga-young has closed her social media comment section and has not made a statement. However, she continues to appear on existing shows such as ‘MBC News Desk’ and ‘Good Morning FM with Tae-yi’.
Meanwhile, the deceased joined MBC as a public recruitment weathercaster in 2021. She gained recognition after appearing on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ in 2022, but she suddenly passed away in September last year. The news of her death was belatedly reported in December last year.
Subsequently, on the 27th of last month, a 17-page handwritten letter was found on the deceased's mobile phone, raising suspicions of workplace bullying. The family filed a civil lawsuit against a colleague who appeared to have engaged in workplace bullying at the Seoul Central District Court in December last year.
