Director Bong Joon-ho recently expressed, "I wondered if our national prestige is falling."

According to a report by YTN, Director Bong Joon-ho commented on the recent state of emergency, saying, "The image of Korea in the minds of people I work with is always associated with BTS and 'Squid Game', and then suddenly seeing the word 'martial law' was just too absurd."

He added, "I sometimes think that, unintentionally, our national prestige might be falling," but also stated, "We are continuously overcoming that and are in the process of recovery. I believe that, through our legal system, things will eventually be sorted out well."

President Yoon Suk-yeol was arrested and imprisoned in the Seoul Detention Center 43 days after declaring a state of emergency on December 3 of last year.

After six years since the global success of 'Parasite', Director Bong Joon-ho made a public appearance at the preview and press conference for 'Mickey17' on the 20th, alongside actor Robert Pattinson, who visited Korea for the first time for the film.

Based on the novel of the same name, 'Mickey17' tells the unpredictable story of 'Mickey', an expendable sent on dangerous missions, who faces the crisis of his 17th death, only to have 'Mickey 18' printed when he is presumed dead. The film is set to be released in Korea on February 28.
