HYBE and the Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency (hereinafter referred to as Northern Gyeonggi Police) have joined forces to eradicate the rapidly increasing cyber crimes, including deepfakes.
On the 25th, HYBE and the Northern Gyeonggi Police signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to combat deepfake crimes at the Northern Gyeonggi Police Headquarters located in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.

HYBE and the Northern Gyeonggi Police plan to closely cooperate by establishing a cyber crime victim reporting hotline to prevent artist victimization and apprehend offenders.
This MOU is based on the consensus that collaboration between agencies and law enforcement is necessary for investigating cyber crimes targeting artists.
Recently, there has been an increasing trend of deepfake crimes not only domestically but also on messaging platforms with servers located overseas. Particularly for celebrities, the high public interest leads to a significant number of incidents involving illegal videos, which spread rapidly. The need for collaboration between agencies and law enforcement is growing to protect victims from such crimes and establish a swift response system.
The Northern Gyeonggi Police expect to enhance their cyber crime investigation capabilities through collaboration with HYBE. The Northern Gyeonggi Police have achieved the top rank in cyber sexual violence investigations nationwide for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024, and have been selected as one of the top cyber teams by the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency in 2024, demonstrating their expertise in cyber crime investigations.
HYBE aims to enhance its artist protection system through this MOU.
Kim Ho-seung, Chief of the Northern Gyeonggi Police, stated, "We expect that cooperation with HYBE, a representative entertainment company in South Korea, will increase investigation efficiency," and added, "As cyber crime methods become more sophisticated with technological advancements, we will enhance our investigative expertise based on this MOU."
Lee Jae-sang, CEO of HYBE, expressed, "We are pleased to collaborate with the Northern Gyeonggi Police, which has expertise in cyber crime investigations," and stated, "We will continue to do our best to protect artist rights."
