The group RESCENE has returned with a fresh and clean soap scent in their new release ‘Glow Up’.

On the afternoon of the 5th, a media showcase was held at Ilji Art Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, to celebrate the release of RESCENE's (Woni, Rive, Minami, Mei, Jena) mini album ‘Glow Up’.

RESCENE's mini album ‘Glow Up’ captures their growth story, showcasing positive changes not only in appearance but also in style, confidence, and skills. The album conveys their dreamy and luxurious sensibility through music, expressing the newly transformed ‘me’ and ‘us’ with a fresh and clean soap scent.

Mei introduced ‘Glow Up’ as “a song with a soap scent concept,” emphasizing, “Since it captures the newly transformed me and us, it has a fresh and clean feeling. It also carries a message of hope.”

Regarding the choice of ‘soap scent’ among many fragrances, she explained, “We come back with a new scent for each album. We often discuss what scent would be new. As we brainstorm, various scents emerge, and the company also considers it, gathering good opinions, and they thought that the soap scent could represent the ‘Glow Up’ we want to show.”

The ‘Glow Up’ album includes five tracks, including the title track of the same name, ‘CRASH’, ‘Going on’, ‘In my lotion’, and ‘Cotton Candy’, showcasing a more diverse musical color of RESCENE.

‘CRASH’, which expresses the members' concerns through lyrics, is one of the ‘favorite songs’ chosen by the RESCENE members. Minami shared, “During our trainee days and even after debut, we had many consultations with our director. The director listened to our concerns a lot, and he said that this song was written thinking about the feelings we expressed.”

When asked about the concerns expressed in the song, Minami said, “We talked a lot about whether there would be points for us to continue growing after debut, concerns about vocal aspects, and worries in daily life. I had many emotions inside me, and I feel like I could fully embrace those emotions through the song ‘CRASH’. I hope those feelings are conveyed.”

Mei also mentioned that she often discusses concerns with the company, saying, “I don’t remember the big points, but whenever we have conversations, I come out forgetting all my worries. The director also said that he wrote the lyrics thinking about the feelings I had forgotten.” She added, “I think I reflected on those forgotten emotions while looking at the lyrics of ‘CRASH’.” Above all, RESCENE expressed that their concerns were resolved through recording, stating, “It’s a great song because it contains a feeling of interaction not just among ourselves but also with the company.”

The title track ‘Glow Up’ maximizes the soap scent they want to present. The lyrics convey RESCENE's excited feelings, describing being drawn by the scent and sparkling in the light. ‘Glow Up’ captivates listeners with its hopeful chorus melody and catchy hook.

Woni revealed that she first heard ‘Glow Up’ in the car on the way to their dorm, saying, “They only played the chorus for us first. When I heard it for the first time, I thought, ‘This is it.’” Rive added, “I liked the song from the beginning. Since the song was good, I thought the next part would be a matter of ‘personal taste’. I felt that this time it matched my taste.”

RESCENE, which showed remarkable growth since their debut last year, had their mini album ‘SCENEDROME’ selected as one of the ‘Best K-Pop Albums of 2024’ by Billboard, and their title track ‘LOVE ATTACK’ was listed among the ‘10 K-Pop Songs that Heated Up 2024’ by Grammy.com. Additionally, they were selected as one of the ‘10 Artists to Watch in 2025’ in the pop genre by Apple Music and Shazam, and they achieved the unprecedented feat of performing at Tokyo Tower, a landmark in Japan, as the first K-Pop idol.

Minami commented on these achievements, saying, “When we first received ‘LOVE ATTACK’, we were so happy, but it exceeded our expectations as the public loved it. We heard that it was mentioned in various ways by Billboard and Grammy, even overseas. That’s why this album was important to us, and we prepared even harder.”

She continued, “Last year, we visited Tokyo Tower. It seems that many people in Japan and other countries recognized and loved us. I hope this album reaches more overseas fans and K-Pop enthusiasts. I hope the day comes when we can perform overseas.”

Returning with ‘Glow Up’, RESCENE is soon to celebrate their first anniversary since debut. They expressed their desire to show their gradual growth, and when asked about the representative phrase they would like to be known for, they chose ‘Trustworthy RESCENE’.

Minami stated, “I think the way we show ourselves on stage is different from our usual selves. We are grateful that our songs have been well received, and we hope that people will recognize our charms more.” She added, “In that regard, we have been preparing for our comeback to get closer to more people through live performances.”

Mei expressed her excitement, saying, “With our first anniversary coming up soon, we have been running non-stop since our debut. As ‘Glow Up’ suggests, please look forward to the growth of RESCENE. We have worked hard to prepare, so we hope for your expectations.”
