The movie ‘Hitman 2’ is maintaining its position at the top of the box office in its second week of release, nearing the milestone of 2 million viewers.
According to the integrated ticketing system of the Korean Film Council on the 3rd, ‘Hitman 2’ attracted 450,758 viewers over the weekend (January 31 to February 2), securing the number one spot at the box office. This is a 6.0% increase compared to its opening weekend, bringing the cumulative audience count to 1,968,749.

‘Hitman 2’ tells the story of Jun, a once-popular webtoon artist who suddenly falls from grace and becomes embroiled in a terrorist incident mimicking his new webtoon.
It is a sequel to ‘Hitman’, which was released in 2020 and attracted 2.4 million viewers, ranking in the top 4 of box office hits. Kwon Sang-woo, Jung Joon-ho, Lee Yi-kyung, Hwang Woo-seul-hye, and Lee Ji-won reprise their roles from the previous film, with Kim Sung-oh joining as a new member.
In particular, Kwon Sang-woo recently made headlines by kneeling down during a stage greeting to express his gratitude to the audience.
He stated, “I wanted to uphold my pride in front of my son,” expressing his earnest wish for the film's success, which seems to have resonated as it was the first among new releases to surpass 1 million viewers. With the 2 million mark now almost certain, anticipation builds for another ‘kneeling performance’ from Kwon Sang-woo.
In second place at the box office is ‘The Black Nun’, starring Song Hye-kyo. During the same period, it attracted 243,887 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience count to 1,430,385. The third spot went to ‘A Secret That Cannot Be Told’, starring Do Kyung-soo and Won Jin-ah, which drew 160,863 viewers in its opening weekend, with a cumulative total of 352,664 viewers.
As ‘Hitman 2’ is on track to be the fastest film of the year to surpass 2 million viewers, attention is focused on whether Kwon Sang-woo will deliver another performance (?).
