The star of the MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards was Jeon Hyun-moo.
On the afternoon of the 28th, the ‘2024 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards’ was held live. The MCs Jeon Hyun-moo, Lee Jang-woo, and Yoon Eun-hye hosted the event, which was originally scheduled for December 29 last year but was canceled due to the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster that occurred on that day.
After many twists and turns, the ‘2024 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards’ was finally presented live, and the Grand Prize went to Jeon Hyun-moo. Before receiving the award, Jeon Hyun-moo garnered much attention when he was mentioned as the recipient selected by AI during the live broadcast.

Receiving the Grand Prize trophy, Jeon Hyun-moo began by saying, “AI is very accurate,” and continued, “I still can't believe it. I have received the Grand Prize from MBC for the third time. I have been living as a dreamer in entertainment, just a kid who studied while watching my seniors like Yoo Jae-suk and Yoon Seok. I was born as an only child with no special talent or hobbies, and the only thing I found fun was broadcasting and entertainment. I have lived with the heart to enter that small square box one day and bring joy to those who feel lonely like me.”
Jeon Hyun-moo stated, “I don’t think I received this award because I have exceptional talent or because I am funny; I believe it is an award I received while maintaining my original intention as a child.” He added, “I have never lost my original intention. No matter how hard my body feels, I have never lost the desire to enter that square box and make someone happy, and I think this is a reward for that.”
Expressing gratitude for the shows he is currently appearing in, ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘The Manager’s Viewpoint,’ Jeon Hyun-moo said, “These days, I find myself thinking a lot about what kind of laughter I should bring. It’s a dopamine paradise. People like more stimulating content, and I also spend time watching short-form videos on my smartphone instead of TV. I think I am also addicted to dopamine,” and added, “While TV may provide less dopamine, it feels more like vitamins. There may be less dopamine, but it has a longer breath. After watching, it leaves a lingering feeling, and I will strive to create a show that gives healthy laughter and a relaxed smile.”
Jeon Hyun-moo expressed, “It’s a time of contemplation, but I will work hard and keep the promise I made with my younger self, not losing the original intention I had when I started broadcasting.” He continued, “As I receive this award, I want to express my gratitude to my parents, whom I have never thanked even when I received awards as an announcer. I want to say thank you to my aging parents who watch my broadcasts without their lives. I haven’t told you I love you for 20 years, but I want to say I love you. Although I received the Grand Prize at the entertainment awards, as a child, I am at the bottom. I will reflect on that.”
Finally, Jeon Hyun-moo said, “I am always grateful to Yoo Jae-suk. Although I didn’t express it specifically, I was surprised by the words he said behind the KBS ‘Entertainment Awards’ and his character. In fact, he might have thoughts like, ‘I haven’t received the Grand Prize, and I need to fill 20 awards,’ but he told me, ‘MBC, you should receive it.’ I will remember his character and words,” and added, “I hope this year is filled with laughter. We may be lacking in many ways, but even if it may be long and boring, I will create a show that can bring a warm smile after watching.”
The Viewer’s Choice Award for Program of the Year went to ‘I Live Alone,’ which celebrated its 12th anniversary, while the Best Male and Female Awards went to Jang Do-yeon (Variety category), Park Na-rae (Reality category), Kim Dae-ho (Variety category), and Kian84 (Reality category). In particular, the touching moment was heightened as long-time friends Jang Do-yeon and Park Na-rae received the awards side by side. Park Na-rae expressed her emotions, saying, “I feel so good that my friend Do-yeon, who started doing comedy with me, received the Best Award. I am so happy.” The Best Radio Award went to Kim Ina, who leads ‘Starry Night.’

The Best Couple Award went to Yoo Jae-suk and Haha from ‘What Do You Do When You Play?,’ and the Achievement Award went to DJ Bae Cheol-soo, who leads ‘Bae Cheol-soo’s Music Camp.’
The Rookie Awards went to Choi Kang-hee and Go Seung-hwan. Choi Kang-hee, who announced her return to broadcasting by appearing in entertainment after a hiatus, said, “I took a break from my activities. During that time, I did a lot of silly things, and I might have seemed unreliable, but I think of those who stayed by my side. I thought about what I wanted to say when I stood here, but I couldn’t think of anything. If there are people who are spending time like me, even if the opportunity they can get is just standing in that place, I know how great that is, so I hope you don’t give up and stand there. Thank you so much,” expressing her heartfelt emotions and adding to the touching moment.
Go Seung-hwan, who expressed his excitement by saying, “This is the first award I have ever received,” said, “I’m saying this for the first time, but I think my family will be watching from home. Baby, thank you for always cheering me on, whether I’m happy or sad. You look at me eating with the most loving eyes, and when I come home late, you wait for me while sleeping. I haven’t been able to date much lately because I’ve been busy, but today let’s have a date at the Han River, which you love. I love you, Kkotbun,” confessing his love for his pet dog, Kkotbun.
