Actor Jung Joon-ho cheerfully shared the behind-the-scenes story of giving up his role in the movie "Friend."
On the 13th, the YouTube channel ‘Sad Brother Shin Dong-yeob’ featured actors Shin Hyun-joon and Jung Joon-ho reminiscing about the past. On this day, Jung Joon-ho mentioned the behind-the-scenes story of being cast in the movie "Friend," bringing much laughter.
Jung Joon-ho revealed, “I met with director Kwak Kyung-taek and confirmed my participation, but my close friend Shin Hyun-joon reacted negatively after reading the script, saying, ‘Why would you do a movie like this?’” At that time, Shin Hyun-joon recommended that Jung Joon-ho appear in the movie "Siren" instead of "Friend," actively persuading him by saying, “I’ll pay you more, and it will be Korea’s first blockbuster.”

Hesitant, Jung Joon-ho happened to show the "Friend" script to Jang Dong-gun and sought his advice. Jang Dong-gun reportedly responded positively, saying, “You would fit perfectly. You should definitely do it.” However, Jung Joon-ho ultimately accepted Shin Hyun-joon’s suggestion and chose "Siren" instead of "Friend."
Jung Joon-ho said, “When I gave up the role, I told director Kwak that ‘Jang Dong-gun found it interesting.’ As a result, Jang Dong-gun was cast, and I think I played a part in that,” eliciting laughter. He then revealed that the famous line from "Friend," “Thank you, I’ve eaten a lot,” was actually his idea, emphasizing his hidden contribution.

In response, Shin Hyun-joon playfully countered, “We should hear the stories from director Kwak and Jang Dong-gun.” He continued, “At that time, Jung Joon-ho avoided me and didn’t answer my calls, so I felt quite sorry.” Shin Hyun-joon revealed their friendship, saying, “Before 'Friend,' Joon-ho treated me with great respect, but afterward, he started calling me ‘Hey, you bastard.’” To this, Jung Joon-ho humorously concluded, “I forgive all the sins you have committed against me today.”
Meanwhile, during the broadcast, Shin Hyun-joon reminisced about the late Kim Soo-mi, who passed away suddenly last year, saying, “I used to give her lisianthus flowers on her birthday, but this time I wanted to give her white flowers,” expressing his heartfelt feelings. He also mentioned their last project together, the movie "Ghost Police," asking for much interest and conveying his sincere longing for her.
This episode reaffirmed the friendship between Jung Joon-ho and Shin Hyun-joon, generating much buzz with the behind-the-scenes stories of the work "Friend" and the actors.
