He continued, “The director had a lot of concerns. We discussed whether to include my mother’s lightning scene until the very end, wondering if we should remove it since she is no longer with us. But in the end, Director Kim decided to keep it as it is,” wiping away his tears.

The movie Ghost Police is notable as the third collaboration between Shin Hyun-joon and the late Kim Soo-mi, and it is also Kim Soo-mi’s last film. Shin Hyun-joon stated, “We originally intended to start the second film with my mother gaining superpowers, but she passed away. The entire production team agreed to ‘not touch anything’ and decided to preserve the scenes with my mother as they were.”

He mentioned from their first collaboration to the planning direction of this film, saying, “Ghost Police was indeed intended to start as a franchise comedy film from the beginning. It’s more regrettable and touching because I shared that dream with my mother.”

Director Kim Young-jun, who directed the film, also explained, “Working with the late Kim Soo-mi is an unforgettable and precious memory. I thought the lightning scene was a gift to both the actors and the audience.”

Meanwhile, Ghost Police is the third project where Shin Hyun-joon and Kim Soo-mi collaborated, following Barefoot Gi-bong and the Family Honor series. This film depicts a comedic story of a son trying to solve cases with his mother, who has superpowers, capturing the late Kim Soo-mi’s delightful performance and warm emotions, raising expectations.

Set to be released on January 24, Ghost Police will remain as the last legacy of the late Kim Soo-mi, promising unforgettable emotions and laughter for the audience.
