A new face is set to bring a fresh breeze to the Mythical Unit in ‘New Recruit 3’.
The Genie TV original drama ‘New Recruit 3’ (written by Yoon Gi-young and Kang Go-eun, directed by Min Jin-ki and Jo Je-wook) has unveiled a special poster featuring the impressive aura of three new faces, Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han, who will add vitality to the third story.
Returning with high expectations, ‘New Recruit 3’ features the unpredictable transfer of two new recruits and the return of an all-time villain, creating a crisis in the Mythical Unit. The military life of Park Min-seok (played by Kim Min-ho), who is on the verge of being promoted to Corporal, becomes increasingly challenging, providing dynamic laughter and empathy. The ‘New Recruits’ Kim Min-ho, Nam Tae-woo, Lee Sang-jin, Jo Jin-se, Lee Chung-gu, Kim Hyun-kyu, Lee Jung-hyun, Jeon Seung-hoon, and Lee Soo-ji carry the show once again with their evolved military life cheat codes, as their experience grows. Above all, director Min Jin-ki, who has broken down the barriers between drama and entertainment by pioneering the ‘K-Military Content’ genre, collaborates with comedy master writer Yoon Gi-young to heighten expectations.
What makes ‘New Recruit 3’ even more exciting is the introduction of new characters that will enrich the story. The Mythical Unit is filled with all kinds of characters, from good guys to bad guys and quirky ones. Unique characters that are as full of personality as the ‘Laughing Special Forces’ New Recruits, who made viewers laugh and cry, will bring a fresh sense of fun. The special poster released shows the three individuals united with a unique determination. The smile of Company Commander Jo Baek-ho (played by Oh Dae-hwan), throwing a finger heart as a ‘love evangelist’, catches the eye. On either side stand the disciplined new recruits Jeon Gye (played by Kim Dong-jun) and Moon Bit-na-ri (played by Kim Yo-han). While they both have clenched fists, the survival stories of the two very different new recruits in the Mythical Unit become even more intriguing. Notably, the slogan ‘Loyalty! I love you’ foreshadows a significantly changed Mythical Unit compared to the harsh days of Company Commander Oh Seung-yoon (played by Kim Ji-seok), drawing attention.
The making video of the poster shoot, released alongside, adds to the anticipation with the ‘New Recruits’ maintaining their perfect chemistry. Kim Min-ho, Nam Tae-woo, Kim Hyun-kyu, Jeon Seung-hoon, and Lee Jung-hyun are fully immersed in their characters during the shoot. The cheerful energy they consistently display off-camera evokes admiration for ‘the New Recruits’. The synergy shown by the newly joined Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han also draws attention to their performances.
Regarding the addition of actors Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han, writer Yoon Gi-young stated, “I think the casting is one of the best things about doing Season 3. The newly introduced characters will definitely bring a sense of realism, as they are clearly serving in some unit right now. You can also look forward to the stories of the new characters and their chemistry with the existing characters.”
Kim Min-ho will once again shine as the military spoon ‘Park Min-seok’, who is on the verge of becoming a Corporal. He is expected to suffer from the increased difficulty of military life as he encounters the ‘National Spoon’ new recruit Jeon Gye and the new recruit Moon Bit-na-ri, who reminds him of his own lowly days. Nam Tae-woo plays ‘Choi Il-goo’, who, even as a final-year soldier, has no peaceful days, while Lee Sang-jin portrays the clumsy yet warm-hearted squad leader ‘Oh Seok-jin’, adding a sense of reality. Kim Hyun-kyu, who played the villain ‘Seong Yoon-mo’ in Season 1, and Jeon Seung-hoon, who returns as the poker-faced Private ‘Lim Da-hye’, Park Min-seok’s senior, also add to the excitement. Additionally, Lee Soo-ji plays Park Min-seok’s older sister and a special instructor with strong mental and physical strength, ‘Park Min-joo’.
The performances of Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han are also highly anticipated. Kim Dong-jun plays the new recruit ‘Jeon Gye’, a global star from a child actor background, who excels in looks, personality, and sense. Oh Dae-hwan portrays the love-filled, unexpected company commander ‘Jo Baek-ho’, who has just been assigned to the 2nd Company. Kim Yo-han transforms into the unusual low-ranking new recruit ‘Moon Bit-na-ri’, who has a timid personality and poor physical strength, reminiscent of Park Min-seok’s new recruit days, showcasing unique acting.
Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama ‘New Recruit 3’ will premiere on April 7 at 10 PM on channel ENA, and will be exclusively available for free VOD on KT Genie TV immediately after the main broadcast every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM. It can also be watched on the OTT platform Tving.
