‘Shinbyung3’ has released a teaser announcing an unprecedented comeback.
The original Genie TV drama ‘Shinbyung3’ (written by Yoon Gi-young and Kang Go-eun, directed by Min Jin-ki and Jo Je-wook) will premiere on April 7 at 10 PM, and it has unveiled a second teaser video that promises a fiery comeback of the Shinbyungz, who will firmly establish the comedic discipline.
Starting from the mega-hit animation of the same name, ‘Shinbyung’ is a hyper-realistic military comedy that depicts the story of a ‘military spoon’ recruit entering a place where all kinds of characters, from good to bad to strange, gather. Returning with high expectations, ‘Shinbyung3’ features the unpredictable transfer of two new recruits and the return of an unprecedented villain, raising the stakes for the Shinwa unit, while Private Park Min-seok (played by Kim Min-ho) faces a dramatically increased difficulty in his military life as he approaches his promotion to Corporal.
The returning ‘Shinbyungz’ Kim Min-ho, Nam Tae-woo, Lee Sang-jin, Jo Jin-se, Lee Chung-gu, Kim Hyun-kyu, Lee Jeong-hyun, Jeon Seung-hoon, and Lee Soo-ji are set to hard carry once again with their evolved military life cheat codes, as their experience (vibe from time served) has increased. The addition of ‘new faces’ Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han, who will accompany Private Park Min-seok during this tumultuous time of transitioning to a senior, is also a hot topic. Above all, director Min Jin-ki, who has broken down the barriers between drama and entertainment by pioneering the ‘K-military content’ genre, collaborates with comedy master writer Yoon Gi-young to excite drama fans even more.
The second teaser video released that day hints at an emergency situation facing the Shinwa unit. Park Min-seok rushes to inform Choi Il-goo, unable to finish his sentence with “How could you” regarding someone’s comeback. His identity is none other than the legendary villain Seong Yun-mo (played by Kim Hyun-kyu) from Season 1. Despite his notorious past leading straight to prison from the Shinwa unit, his return and tearful prayer of repentance leave all the members of the Shinwa unit bewildered. Whether it is sincere or another scheme, his chilling smile suggests a storm approaching the Shinwa unit. From the transfer of the problematic recruit to the comeback of the legendary villain, anticipation builds for how the increased difficulty of military life for the Shinwa members will unfold.
Kim Min-ho will once again shine as the military spoon ‘Park Min-seok’, who is on the verge of becoming a Corporal. He is expected to suffer from the increased difficulty of military life as he welcomes the new recruit Moon Bit-na-ri, who reminds him of his own past as a low-ranking soldier. Nam Tae-woo continues to be the ‘Choi Il-goo’ who can’t catch a break even as a senior, while Lee Sang-jin plays the clumsy yet warm-hearted squad leader ‘Oh Seok-jin’, adding realism to the story. Kim Hyun-kyu, who played the villain ‘Seong Yun-mo’ in Season 1, and Jeon Seung-hoon, who returns as the poker-faced Private ‘Lim Da-hye’, also add to the excitement. Additionally, Lee Soo-ji plays Park Min-seok’s older sister and a special instructor with strong mental and physical strength, ‘Park Min-joo’.
The performances of ‘new faces’ Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han are also highly anticipated. Kim Dong-jun, a global star from a child actor background, plays the outstanding recruit ‘Jeon Se-gye’, who excels in looks, personality, and sense. Oh Dae-hwan portrays the love-filled yet surprising new company commander ‘Jo Baek-ho’, who has just been assigned to the 2nd Company. Kim Yo-han transforms into the unusual low-ranking recruit ‘Moon Bit-na-ri’, who reminds everyone of Park Min-seok’s recruit days with his timid personality and poor physical condition, showcasing his unique acting.
The production team of ‘Shinbyung3’ stated, “Park Min-seok has now entered a phase where he can be called a ‘senior’, but his military life will become even more spectacular,” adding, “If it’s easy to make you laugh, it’s not ‘Shinbyung’. You can expect even more outrageous humor and empathy.”
Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama ‘Shinbyung3’ will premiere on April 7 at 10 PM on channel ENA, and will be exclusively available for free VOD on KT Genie TV immediately after the main broadcast every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM. It can also be watched on OTT platforms like Tving.
