‘Study Group’ Cha Woo-min has hinted at a fiery showdown with Hwang Min-hyun.
The Tving original ‘Study Group’ (directed by Lee Jang-hoon and Yoo Beom-sang, written by Um Sun-ho and Oh Bo-hyun, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Y Lab Plex, provided by Tving) released a still of the dark aura captivating attention from the character Pi Han-ul (played by Cha Woo-min) on the 14th. The intense presence of Kim Soon-cheol (played by Joo Hyun-woo) and Park Geon-yeop (played by Hong Min-ki) adds to the intrigue.
‘Study Group’ is based on a popular webtoon of the same name (written by Shin Hyung-wook, illustrated by Yoo Seung-yeon, produced by Y Lab) and is a comedic high school action drama about Yoon Ga-min (played by Hwang Min-hyun), who wants to study well but has all his talent focused on fighting, as he enters a bloody entrance exam at the worst school and forms a ‘Study Group’. The story features Yoon Ga-min, who chooses to fight to study, and the students with their own stories trying to protect the Study Group, promising thrilling action that provides catharsis. Director Lee Jang-hoon, known for films like ‘Miracle’ and ‘I’m Coming to See You’, collaborates with writers Um Sun-ho and Oh Bo-hyun to create a unique comedic high school action drama. Above all, there is high anticipation for the performances of distinctive young actors such as Hwang Min-hyun, Han Ji-eun, Cha Woo-min, Lee Jong-hyun, Shin Soo-hyun, Yoon Sang-jeong, and Gong Do-yu.
In the previously released main trailer, Pi Han-ul, who is closely watching Yoon Ga-min, heightens the tension, while the newly released photos stimulate curiosity about Pi Han-ul. First, the breathtaking charisma of Pi Han-ul, who looks down on everyone from the podium, catches the eye. Despite wearing a neat school uniform, his cold gaze hints at the power of Pi Han-ul, who is at the top of the hierarchy at Yuseong Technical High School. The intense gaze of Kim Soon-cheol, the bodyguard protecting Pi Han-ul, and the sharp aura of Park Geon-yeop, who hovers around Pi Han-ul and Yoon Ga-min, are also intriguing. It raises curiosity about what story the three will unfold with Yoon Ga-min.
Pi Han-ul is a figure who reigns over the solid order established at Yuseong Technical High School. Cha Woo-min stated, “The flashy action caught my attention, and I enjoyed the original work. With action that is more spectacular than existing school dramas, we will provide enjoyment to the viewers,” hinting at an exciting action showdown with Hwang Min-hyun. He further described the character of ‘Pi Han-ul’ as “a character who deals with those who hinder progress rather than empathizing with others. The focus of Pi Han-ul lies in the brutality when achieving his goals,” adding to the curiosity about how he will portray Pi Han-ul.
