Koo Jun-yup, a member of the group Clon, has spoken out about the death of his wife, Taiwanese actress Seo Hee-won (Hsu Shih-yuan).
On the 3rd, local media such as ET Today and Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) reported, citing Seo Hee-won's sister Hsu Shih-ti, that she passed away from pneumonia caused by the flu while on a trip to Japan. She was 48 years old.
In relation to this, Koo Jun-yup expressed his sorrow in a phone call with a media outlet, saying, “I’m not okay.” He also could not hide his grief regarding the rumors of fake news, stating, “It’s not fake news.”
On that day, Hsu Shih-ti revealed through local media, “During the Lunar New Year holiday, our family went on a trip to Japan, and my beloved sister Hsu Shih-yuan unfortunately left us due to complications from pneumonia caused by the flu.”
She continued, “It was a great blessing for me to be able to be my sister’s sibling in this life, taking care of and relying on each other. I will forever be grateful and deeply miss her,” adding, “I hope she rests in peace. I will love and remember her forever.”
Seo Hee-won debuted in 1994 with her sister as part of the group ‘SOS’. She is also famous for playing the lead role in the Taiwanese drama ‘Boys Over Flowers’. In Korea, she became known as ‘Taiwanese Geum Jan-di’ after the name of the lead female character in a domestic drama.
Koo Jun-yup and Seo Hee-won first met in 1998 and were in a relationship until the early 2000s before breaking up. Later, Seo Hee-won married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and had a daughter and a son, but they separated in 2021. During this time, Koo Jun-yup reached out to Seo Hee-won again, and they got married in 2022.
Koo Jun-yup appeared on the SBS variety show ‘Shoe-less and Divorced Men’ last April, where he shared their love story and episodes from their newlywed life, drawing attention.
