The new film ‘Broken’ (directed by Kim Jin-hwang) has performed poorly, allowing ‘Hitman 2’ (directed by Choi Won-seob) to reclaim the weekend box office throne. Furthermore, both ‘Hitman 2’ and ‘The Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) have crossed the break-even point, bringing a refreshing breeze to the box office after a long time.
According to the integrated ticketing system of the Korean Film Council on the 10th, ‘Hitman 2’ attracted 78,091 viewers the previous day, maintaining its top position. The cumulative audience count stands at 2,316,109.
In second place is ‘Secret That Cannot Be Told’ (directed by Seo Yu-min), which drew 53,981 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience count to 574,484.
‘Broken’ has fallen to third place. On the same day, it attracted 32,076 viewers, with a cumulative audience of about 160,000. The film, which received a disappointing report card from the start, failed to improve its performance even during its opening weekend, leaving a sense of regret. The break-even point for the film is approximately 1.1 million viewers.
Song Hye-kyo’s ‘The Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) is in fourth place, receiving the choice of about 29,000 viewers. Its cumulative audience count is around 1.6 million, successfully crossing the break-even point.
Thus, among the films released during the Lunar New Year holiday, excluding ‘Secret That Cannot Be Told’, both ‘Hitman 2’ and ‘The Black Nuns’ have successfully crossed the break-even point, bringing relief.
The real-time pre-sale rate is led by Marvel's new release ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ (hereafter ‘Captain America 4’). Following it are ‘Secret That Cannot Be Told’, ‘Hitman 2’, and ‘Broken’ in that order.
