Director Bong Joon-ho shared his thoughts on the change of release date for ‘Mickey 17’.

On the morning of the 20th, a footage screening and press conference for the film ‘Mickey 17’ was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. Director Bong Joon-ho and actor Robert Pattinson attended.

Director Bong Joon-ho stated, “It was exciting to have a change in the release. There has never been a change in the release of my films. I always ponder about it, but perhaps because this time it has received attention, it has been widely reported in the media.”

He continued, “Due to the total strike of the actors' union, there were issues in the American industry, and not just for ‘Mickey 17’, but Hollywood film schedules have also changed. I did not do any reshooting or re-editing.”

Additionally, Director Bong Joon-ho mentioned, “From the beginning, I was contracted with final directorial authority. Warner Bros. respected that as well. The filming went smoothly, but there were external factors that caused changes. I am happy that it will be released worldwide in March and in Korea at the end of February.”

This is Robert Pattinson's first visit to Korea. He arrived through Incheon International Airport on the 19th. Despite his busy schedule filming his next project, he reportedly showed a strong desire to visit Korea, the home country of Director Bong Joon-ho.

‘Mickey 17’ depicts the unpredictable story of a disposable (expendable) character, Mickey, who is sent on dangerous missions and faces his 17th death crisis, only to have ‘Mickey 18’ printed when he is presumed dead. It will be released for the first time in South Korea on February 28.
