Song Hye-kyo's first occult film ‘The Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) has released a production video today (26th), drawing attention to the shocking scenes she will present.

‘The Black Nuns’, a sequel to ‘The Black Priests’, tells the story of people who embark on a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.

The video released today captures the actors' efforts to immerse themselves in their characters and the delicate production process that brought the work to completion.

Oh Hyo-jin, the production director, mentioned that the story of ‘The Black Nuns’ began with the question, “What should we do if the 12 forms reappear in Korea and there are no ‘Choi Jun-ho’ and ‘Kim Beom-sin’ who have performed exorcisms?” This raises curiosity about the story that follows ‘The Black Priests’.

Additionally, Lee Jin-wook stated, “There are many films about exorcisms, but I think it’s the first time to see nuns performing the ritual as the main characters,” which amplifies expectations with the unique setting of two nuns, who are not allowed to perform exorcisms, embarking on a forbidden ritual.

“I think there will be a lot of unexpected actions and unrestrained dialogue, and those aspects might be refreshing in a cinematic sense,” said Song Hye-kyo, who is set to portray the bold ‘Unia’ nun with captivating performance.

The film also reflects the production team's efforts to infuse realism. Music director Kim Tae-sung mentioned, “We thought a lot about maximizing the strange moments of our daily lives,” while art director Jo Hwa-sung stated, “I think it would be good to make it look like a space where familiarity is disrupted and feels uncomfortable.” The music and art, which detail the cracks in everyday life, will convey both familiarity and alienation to the audience, maximizing the film's sense of realism.

With a combination of actors expected to undergo new transformations, fresh material, and unpredictable developments, ‘The Black Nuns’ will provide a high level of immersion and is set to be released on January 24 next year.
