Pop star Madonna (66) has openly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump.
On the night of the 20th (local time), Madonna stated on X (formerly Twitter), "I thought this country was founded by Europeans who wanted to create a new world where people govern together, free from the rule of a king."
She continued, "Currently, we have a president who calls himself 'our king,' and it's not funny if it's a joke."
Previously, on the 19th, President Trump announced the elimination of the congestion charge introduced in Manhattan, New York, on Truth Social, stating, "The congestion charge is now dead. Manhattan and all of New York have been saved. Long live the king!" The White House also posted a message on X featuring a photo of President Trump wearing a golden crown.
Madonna, who has expressed critical views about President Trump since his first term, wrote on X on the 28th of last month, "It is very sad to watch the new government slowly dismantle all the freedoms we fought for over the years. Do not give up that fight."
