‘Current King of Singers 2’ will extend from the originally scheduled 12 episodes to 13 episodes.
On the 14th, the production team of ‘Current King of Singers 2’ announced, “We have decided to extend by one episode due to the enthusiastic support from viewers who want to enjoy the dazzling performances of the current singers for a longer time and the show's popularity.”
‘Current King of Singers 2’ achieved a peak viewership rating of 14.1% for episode 11, with a nationwide rating of 13.1%, marking the second consecutive week of breaking its own record following episode 10. It also ranked first in the Good Data Corporation TV-OTT search response for three consecutive weeks and topped the integrated content rankings announced by the OTT content search platform Kino Lights.
In particular, episode 11 heightened expectations by revealing the 10 finalists after the semifinals. The video capturing the moments of Shin Seung-tae’s ‘Four Beats’, Park Seo-jin’s ‘Lost Love’, and the announcement of the finalists including Kang Moon-kyung, Shin Seung-tae, Hwanhee, Jin Hae-sung, Kim Jun-soo, Shin Yu, Kim Soo-chan, Park Seo-jin, Choi Soo-ho, and Enoch topped the YouTube trending videos for two days.
Kang Moon-kyung, the MVP of the semifinals and the star of the ‘Best Moment’ for episodes 10 and 11, surpassed a total of 14.75 million views for his stage videos, earning the title of ‘Most Viewed Male’ following ‘Most Watched Male’.
Park Seo-jin, who rose to the trending videos with ‘Lost Love’, surpassed a total of 10.28 million views. His performance of ‘The Clown’ in episode 3 recorded 3.89 million views, the highest for a single video, while ‘Do You Know Flower Soon?’ from episode 8 garnered 1.49 million views, ranking second in total views.
Jin Hae-sung, showcasing the true essence of a ‘Traditional Trot Competitor’, emerged as a dark horse with a total of 9.99 million views. He has five videos that surpassed one million views, including ‘Contact Line’ from episode 4 with over 2.24 million views, ‘Love and Tears’ from episode 2, ‘Sangsahwa’ from episode 6, ‘Busan Port, Crying and Parting’ from episode 8, and ‘Don’t Cry, Gayageum’ from episode 10, raising expectations for his performance.
Hwanhee, who is writing a new history for ‘R&B Trot’, has surpassed one million views for ‘Heartless Blues’ from episode 1 and ‘Hate It Again’ from episode 4, accumulating a total of 7.17 million views, proving his growing popularity.
Enoch, the ‘Mytrot Gentleman’ who surpassed 6.1 million views, showcased his versatility as an entertainer with dance trot in ‘Amor Party’ from episode 3 and reinterpreted ballad trot in ‘I Truly Didn’t Know’ from episode 2 and ‘About Romance’ from episode 6, all surpassing one million views.
