‘The Black Nuns’ has started its journey as the top film at the box office during the Lunar New Year holiday.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 26th, ‘The Black Nuns’ attracted 210,753 viewers to theaters on the 25th, the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday, securing the top spot at the box office. It has held the number one position for two consecutive days since its release.

‘The Black Nuns’ (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae) is a sequel to ‘The Priests’ and tells the story of people who embark on a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit. Sister Unia (played by Song Hye-kyo) and Sister Michaela (played by Jeon Yeo-bin) risk everything to save Hee-jun (played by Moon Woo-jin), who has been taken over by the evil spirit. The film showed overwhelming pre-booking rates due to high expectations for the sequel and the cast, including Song Hye-kyo and Jeon Yeo-bin. Currently, it has a pre-booking rate of 30.2% and 115,252 pre-booked viewers, indicating that it is expected to maintain its number one position for a while.

In second place is ‘Hitman 2’, starring Kwon Sang-woo, Jung Joon-ho, and Lee Yi-kyung, which was released on the 22nd and has accumulated 406,006 viewers. In third place is ‘Harbin’, starring Hyun Bin, which was released on the 24th of last month and has recorded a total of 4,607,222 viewers so far.
