Lee Jin-ho commented on the rumor of Hong Sang-soo’s 120 billion won inheritance, stating, “Director Hong is perceived as a significant wealthy person in his surroundings. This is due to a rumor about his mother’s 120 billion won inheritance that came out on a broadcast. Upon checking, this is a typical piece of fake news,” adding, “Director Hong is the youngest of three siblings. He also mentioned that Director Hong did not attend his daughter’s wedding. Lee Jin-ho said, “It is said that Director Hong cherished his daughter very much. However, shockingly, he did not attend his only daughter’s wedding, which took place 2-3 years ago.” He added, “Not only did he not attend, but it is said that he did not even give a wedding gift. Furthermore, Lee Jin-ho clarified that the claim of “cutting off his daughter’s study abroad expenses after the affair with Kim Min-hee” is fake news, stating, “It’s said that the notoriously frugal Director Hong would not even pay for his daughter’s study abroad expenses. It is understood that the expenses were covered by his wife’s mother, the grandmother. His wife, Ms. A, graduated from high school and university in the United States and obtained permanent residency in the 1980s, indicating that her family had financial means. The grandmother, who adored her granddaughter, covered all the study abroad expenses.” He continued, “Director Hong’s mother-in-law treated them well, but even when she passed away, Director Hong did not appear at the funeral.”
Meanwhile, Director Hong got married in 1985 and has a daughter. He became involved with Kim Min-hee after their collaboration on the film ‘Right Now, Wrong Then’ in 2015, which developed into a romantic relationship, leading him to file for divorce from his wife.
