Singer Lee Seung-hwan criticized the Presidential Security Service's 'Choir of Tribute Songs for President Yoon Seok-yeol.'
On the 17th, Lee Seung-hwan posted a screenshot of an SBS news video reporting on the Security Service's 'Choir of Tribute Songs for President Yoon' on his social media, stating, “It is full of North Korean sentiment.”
Lee Seung-hwan wrote, “The secret to the great leadership of our beloved Comrade Yoon Seok-yeol lies in the North Korean-style chants,” and added, “Long live Comrade Yoon Seok-yeol, sent to us by heaven!” criticizing the related controversy.
According to an SBS report the day before, the Presidential Security Service held a 60th anniversary celebration for its establishment on December 2023, coinciding with President Yoon Seok-yeol's birthday, and sang a tribute song praising him.
The lyrics of the song called 'Founding Anniversary Medley,' sung by Security Service employees, included lines such as “84,5280 precious moments, countless days running non-stop since your inauguration,” “The overflowing love you showed, your warm touch, always with those in need,” “Thank you for only thinking of the people,” and “Today, we all celebrate the meaningful day when the president sent to us by heaven was born for a new Republic of Korea.”
This song is a parody of the famous musical 'Rent's' song 'Seasons of Love.'
The next song was a modified version of singer Kwon Jin-won's 'Happy Birthday to You,' which included the line, “Today, we all celebrate the meaningful day when the president sent to us by heaven was born for a new Republic of Korea.”
The event was reportedly presided over by former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, who was the head of the Security Service at the time, and planned by Kim, who was the head of the planning and management office.
President Yoon is currently being held at the Seoul Detention Center after being arrested on charges of being the leader of a rebellion on the 15th.
