Hollywood star Robert Pattinson, the lead in Bong Joon-ho's new film ‘Mickey 17’, is also expected to visit Korea, raising audience expectations for the film to the maximum.

On the 11th (Korean time), the prominent American entertainment media Variety reported that “‘Mickey 17’ will be screened at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, which runs from February 13 to 23.”

The domestic release date for ‘Mickey 17’ is set for February 28, and the Berlin International Film Festival is expected to be the first event where global audiences can meet the film. It is reported that the screening at the Berlin Film Festival is likely to take place in a ‘special screening’ format rather than in a competitive section. This will be the first time a film by Director Bong is screened at the Berlin International Film Festival in 11 years since ‘Snowpiercer’ in 2014, which was also specially screened in the non-competitive Forum section.

Robert Pattinson, the protagonist of ‘Mickey 17’, will visit Korea on the 20th before heading to Berlin. In the morning, he will meet with domestic reporters alongside Director Bong Joon-ho, and in the afternoon, he is scheduled to communicate directly with Korean fans through a stage greeting after a footage (highlight video) screening.

This visit to Korea is said to have been driven by Robert Pattinson's strong desire to “definitely come to Korea, the home country of Director Bong who directed the film.”

Director Bong's new film ‘Mickey 17’, which he presents six years after the global hit ‘Parasite’, is based on Edward Ashton's novel ‘Mickey7’. It tells an unpredictable story of a disposable (expendable) clone named Mickey, who is sent on dangerous missions and faces his 17th death crisis.

With a production cost of $150 million (approximately 220.7 billion won), this massive sci-fi blockbuster features top Hollywood stars including Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, Naomi Ackie, and Steven Yeun.
