Actress Demi Moore has won her first-ever Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
On the 6th (Korean time), at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, Demi Moore won the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy award for her role in the film 'Substance'. By winning this Golden Globe, which is considered a key indicator for the Oscar race, Demi Moore has taken a step closer to an Academy Award nomination.
In her acceptance speech, Demi Moore said, “I have received the honor of winning an acting award for the first time in 45 years,” and shared an anecdote: “Thirty years ago, a producer told me I was a popcorn actress and that such awards were not suited for me. I believed I could make movies that earn a lot of money, but I could not be recognized.”
She continued, “One day I found a crazy script, and that was 'Substance'. I am truly grateful to be able to portray such a woman,” expressing her gratitude to director Coralie Parra.
She also stated, “At the moment when a woman thinks she is not smart enough, not pretty enough, not thin enough, or not successful enough, she can realize her worth by letting go of others' judgment. I will take today’s honor as a reminder that I am doing what I love and that I belong to this.” This statement received applause.
Demi Moore remarked that returning to the awards race with 'Substance' is “the icing on the cake,” adding, “I am 62 years old, and I hope to contribute to laying the foundation for change for all women by striving to be the best version of myself. I hope that all of us, not just women, can take a step back to recognize our worth and understand that we are all valuable beings, no matter what stage we are at.”
In particular, she emphasized, “The really important message while watching 'Substance' is that there is no one better than you.”
'Substance' is a nonstop bloody thriller depicting a fierce confrontation between me and a better version of myself. Demi Moore showcased her acting dedication by performing intense fight scenes throughout the film.
