Actor Yoo Yeon-seok has been notified of a 7 billion won penalty by the National Tax Service, and he has firmly denied allegations of intentionally omitting taxes.
Yoo Yeon-seok's agency, King Kong by Starship, stated on the 14th regarding the allegations of intentional tax omission, "This matter arises from differences in interpretation and application of tax law between our tax representative and the tax authorities, and we are currently in the stage of waiting for the tax authorities' notification after going through a pre-tax review."
The agency emphasized, "This is not a matter that has been finally confirmed and notified, and we plan to actively clarify the issues related to the interpretation and application of the law through proper procedures."

Regarding the reason for the large penalty, the agency explained, "The tax authorities interpreted the income from the corporation, which has been operating additional businesses and restaurants based on developing and producing YouTube content as an extension of entertainment activities, as subject to income tax rather than corporate tax for the past five years. As a result, personal income tax was imposed on the portion that had been reported as corporate income by the tax representative."
Finally, the agency stated, "Yoo Yeon-seok has prioritized fulfilling his tax obligations diligently and will continue to comply thoroughly with relevant laws and procedures as a responsible citizen."
On the same day, CBS No Cut News reported that the National Tax Service recently notified Yoo Yeon-seok that it would impose approximately 7 billion won in taxes, including income tax, following a rigorous tax investigation.
Yoo Yeon-seok has filed for a pre-tax review in January against the National Tax Service's decision and is actively clarifying during the review process to correct the assessed tax amount. There are expectations that the imposed 7 billion won could be significantly reduced to around 3 billion won through the clarification process.
