The movie 'Hitman 2' has successfully surpassed the break-even point (BEP) after a steady box office performance. It is now close to surpassing the 2.4 million audience mark set by its predecessor, 'Hitman' (2020), drawing attention to whether it can achieve this milestone.

'Hitman 2' Surpasses Break-Even Point, First Record Among 2025 Releases

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 9th, 'Hitman 2' has reached a cumulative audience of 2.3 million as of that day, successfully hitting the break-even point.

With this achievement, 'Hitman 2' has earned the title of the first film among 2025 releases to surpass the break-even point, adding significance to its success.

After quickly surpassing 2 million viewers during the Lunar New Year holiday, it has maintained a strong position in the box office despite the release of new films such as 'The Black Nuns', 'The Secret That Cannot Be Told', and 'Broken'.

Industry experts predict that if this trend continues, 'Hitman 2' could surpass the previous record of 2.4 million set by 'Hitman' and potentially reach 3 million viewers.

As 'Hitman 2' once again proves Kwon Sang-woo's ticket power, he revealed the reason for choosing this project while appearing on the web entertainment show 'Sad Brother'.

“'Hitman' is essentially a family movie. I fundamentally like such stories. I am drawn to scenarios that children can watch together.”

Kwon Sang-woo recalled, “After the first film, my son said, 'Dad, I found 'Hitman' much more fun than 'Extreme Job'.” This made me think for the first time about wanting to do a sequel.”

He added, “I wanted to create a movie that families could enjoy and laugh at together during the Lunar New Year,” explaining his choice for this project.

'Hitman 2' has taken a gamble with a larger scale and stronger comic action than its predecessor.

Director Choi Won-seob emphasized, “I wanted to expand the universe to showcase more diverse events and characters,” highlighting the increased scale compared to the previous film.

Currently, 'Hitman 2' is maintaining a strong position in the box office and continues to attract audiences.

Having already surpassed the break-even point, the remaining audience revenue is expected to translate into pure profit. It remains to be seen whether 'Hitman 2' can continue its success and surpass the previous record of 3 million viewers.
