As Gumi City unilaterally canceled singer Lee Seung-hwan's concert, it is experiencing a backlash, while Gwangju Metropolitan City and Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province have sent out 'concert hosting' love calls. In response, Lee Seung-hwan immediately replied, raising expectations for future concert schedules.
Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jeong mentioned the cancellation of the concert in Gumi on his Facebook on the 24th, saying, “Then let’s do it in Gwangju. I invite singer Lee Seung-hwan to Gwangju,” publicly sending a love call for hosting the concert.
In response, Lee Seung-hwan expressed his gratitude through his SNS, saying, “Thank you. I look forward to performing in Gwangju, the holy land of democracy.”
Hwaseong City also joined in. Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun also expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the concert through his account, saying, “How about holding the Lee Seung-hwan concert in Hwaseong Special City?” He added, “As we celebrate the designation of Hwaseong as a special city, if an artist like Lee Seung-hwan performs in Hwaseong, I believe the citizens who are thirsty for cultural enjoyment will be very pleased.”
Previously, Gumi City canceled the venue reservation for Lee Seung-hwan's 35th debut anniversary concert, which was scheduled to be held at the Gumi City Cultural Arts Center on the 25th, citing concerns for citizen safety and refusal to sign a pledge against political agitation.
In relation to this, Lee Seung-hwan stated, “I express my regret over Gumi City’s unilateral decision to cancel the concert venue reservation. I plan to take legal action.”
