The guarantee of viewership success, actor Park Eun-bin has made her appearance. Expectations are high for her to become Disney Plus' savior.
On the afternoon of the 17th, a production presentation for the Disney Plus original series ‘Hyperknife’ was held at the Conrad Hotel located in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by actors Park Eun-bin, Seol Kyung-gu, Yoon Chan-young, Park Byung-eun, and director Kim Jung-hyun. The event was hosted by broadcaster Park Kyung-rim.
‘Hyperknife’ is a medical thriller that depicts the fierce confrontation between ‘Seok’, a once-promising genius doctor, and his mentor ‘Deok-hee’, who brought him to ruin.
After the photo time, director Kim stated, “I’m nervous as the release approaches. I’m curious about how the public will react.” Park Eun-bin shared, “This is my first time being released on OTT (Over-the-Top) platforms. The wait after filming was long. I couldn’t gauge how it would turn out or what kind of reactions it would receive during the filming.” Seol Kyung-gu also expressed, “I feel worried, curious, and excited. Various emotions are piling up.” Park Byung-eun added, “When I saw the performances of the actors on set, I was excited about how fun it would be once it’s released. There are so many good actors that when you watch it, you’ll think, ‘A fun work has come out.’”
Park Eun-bin, who won the Grand Prize in the TV category at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards for her role as ‘Woo Young-woo’, a genius lawyer on the autism spectrum in ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’, is drawing attention for her new acting transformation.
Following this, Seol Kyung-gu, who won the Best Actor award in the film category at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards for ‘Kingmaker’, is also a beloved actor known for his perfect acting skills in every work. He plays ‘Choi Deok-hee’, the world’s best neurosurgeon who cruelly rejects ‘Seok’, amplifying expectations for their explosive acting rivalry.

Park Eun-bin said, “This is a genre and character I’ve never done before, so everything was intriguing. I met my senior for the first time through this work, and every scene we did together was like dopamine for me. I received good stimulation from every scene,” expressing satisfaction with her acting chemistry with Seol Kyung-gu.
In response, Seol Kyung-gu shared, “I was very curious and excited because Park Eun-bin was involved. The reason I took on this project was Park Eun-bin,” showing his endless affection.
Hearing this, Park Byung-eun joked, “Wasn’t I the reason for your participation?” to which Seol Kyung-gu replied, “Wasn’t I cast after you? I wasn’t even considered as a reason for participation,” bringing laughter.
Director Kim explained, “These are characters that are hard to find in Korean dramas. It can be seen as a cruel fairy tale. Please look forward to how the relationship will change based on the bizarre story of two people driven mad by their brains.”

Park Eun-bin stated, “I feel like I lived fiercely throughout the filming. I spent time passionately without letting go until the end. I can’t believe it’s finally being released. I hope it comes out quickly. I want to be evaluated soon,” she said. Seol Kyung-gu added, “I tried not to get swept away by the character's emotions and aimed to act coldly. I tried to be indifferent,” sharing his filming experience.
Undoubtedly, ‘Hyperknife’ is a work that is expected to showcase Park Eun-bin’s acting transformation. It raises anticipation for how she will portray a character of a doctor who is not only strong but also insane, despite her kind appearance. Director Kim praised, “Showing a side of the actor that hasn’t been seen by the public is a major attraction for me as a director. When Park Eun-bin finally agreed to film, I felt nothing but joy rather than expectation. I think I often said that she was actually crazy while watching her act on set.”

Yoon Chan-young takes on the role of ‘Seo Young-joo’, who acts as Seok’s bodyguard, always protecting him like a shadow, while Park Byung-eun, who has captivated the public with his wide-ranging abilities across various genres in films like ‘Citizen Deok-hee’, ‘The Mathematician in Wonderland’, and dramas like ‘Seonsan’ and Disney Plus’ ‘Moving’, plays ‘Han Hyun-ho’, an anesthesiologist who helps ‘Jung Seok’ continue his surgeries, showcasing his remarkable acting skills.
Park Byung-eun expressed, “I have been a huge fan of Seol Kyung-gu for a long time. The reason I joined the company was largely influenced by him,” and added, “When I go for acting auditions, I still have the memory of Seol Kyung-gu’s movie ‘Peppermint Candy’ stuck in my mind. Just being here together feels surreal,” conveying his respect.
Most of the questions that day revolved around Park Eun-bin. This shows the high expectations for her participation, which also holds special significance for Disney Plus content, as their performance in the OTT content market has been lacking.
Park Eun-bin shared, “While filming ‘The Diva of the Deserted Island’, I received the script for ‘Hyperknife’ as my next project, and the title caught my attention. The character itself was intense,” and added, “I am constantly evaluating what I like and what I can do internally (at the company). I didn’t think it was a difficult decision. I was excited thinking about whether I could convey deep emotions to the viewers through this character.”
She continued, “I don’t act in a calculated way. I acted while awakening my senses. When I discovered aspects of myself that I didn’t know, I thought, ‘This is the face of this character.’”
In conclusion, Park Eun-bin stated, “I don’t choose works thinking about box office success. During the time leading up to the release, I think of my past selves. If possible, we aim to create a good work with a clear goal. I hope you will watch until the end,” urging viewers to tune in.
‘Hyperknife’ will be available on Disney Plus starting from the 19th, with two episodes released weekly.
