Broadcaster Pungja expresses her regret over a favorite restaurant that closed due to the Hannam-dong redevelopment issue.
On the upcoming episode of MBC's entertainment program “Save Me! Homes,” airing on the 13th at 10 PM, broadcaster Pungja, Park Na-rae, and Joo Woo-jae will head to Hannam-dong for a site visit.
In this episode, Park Na-rae, who has lived in Hannam-dong and Itaewon for a long time, along with broadcaster Pungja and Joo Woo-jae, will visit the heart of Seoul, Yongsan-gu Hannam-dong. Urban planning expert Professor Jeong Seok will join the studio to discuss the history of Hannam-dong that we were unaware of.
Before the official site visit begins, the “Homes” coordinators warmly welcome Pungja, while revealing behind-the-scenes stories about her invitation. Yang Se-chan mentions, “I heard that when the production team called to invite her, she immediately exclaimed, ‘No way! That place is hell!’ upon hearing ‘Homes.’” In response, Pungja confesses, “I was mentally broken from the last ‘island site visit.’ I was exposed to too much sea breeze and have been suffering from deep aftereffects.”
Urban planning expert Professor Jeong Seok explains why Hannam-dong is the center of Seoul, stating, “It is located between the Han River and Namsan, which is why it is called Hannam-dong.” He also adds, “Some parts of Hannam-dong are undergoing redevelopment. The area including Itaewon-dong, Bogwang-dong, and Hannam-dong is being developed in sections, and the progress in the third section, which includes Hannam-dong, is the fastest.”
As Park Na-rae, Pungja, and Joo Woo-jae gather at the opening location for the Hannam-dong site visit, the studio coordinators express their excitement, saying, “They are overwhelming from the start,” and “All three have very distinct characters.” Joo Woo-jae humorously adds, “If Miss Korea has beauty, talent, and grace, we feel like point, line, and plane.”
Park Na-rae introduces Hannam-dong as a truly charming and fun neighborhood, saying, “I lived in Hannam-dong and then moved to Itaewon-dong. I have lived here for a total of 7 years.” Pungja also reveals, “I lived in Itaewon-dong for 7 years, and now I have been living in Hannam-dong for 2 years.”
The three begin their site visit in the Hannam New Town third section, where redevelopment is underway. It is reported that over 90% of residents and merchants have already moved out. While walking through the empty streets, Pungja discovers a closed shop and reveals it was her favorite place, saying, “This alley was my 20s, and it’s so sad,” sparking curiosity about which shop it is ahead of the broadcast.
Next, the three visit a famous record shop, known as the holy land of vinyl (LP) in Hannam-dong. Joo Woo-jae, looking at the closed shop, mentions, “Many singers have done poster shoots here,” and pulls out a camera for Park Na-rae and Pungja. When the photos taken on-site are revealed in the studio, the “Homes” coordinators are said to be in awe of Joo Woo-jae’s impressive photography skills, raising expectations.
The emotional site visit to Hannam-dong will be aired on MBC’s “Save Me! Homes” on the 13th at 10 PM.
