A special episode titled ‘Dreams Come True’ will unfold on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’.
In the 283rd episode of ‘You Quiz on the Block’ (directed by Kwak Cheong-ah, written by Lee Eon-joo), guests include Professor Ross King, who established the world’s only Korean village in the United States, top instructors Im Ji-ae and Joo Hye-yeon, the ‘Grandpa Gepetto’ of the Toy Hospital, Chairman Kim Jong-il and Dr. Won Deok-hee, as well as Cha Jun-hwan, the first male figure skater in South Korea to win a gold medal.
Professor Ross King (University of British Columbia), who established the world’s only Korean village in the United States, will captivate viewers with his story. A language genius who speaks 22 languages, Professor King will share his story of falling in love with the Korean language 45 years ago and his experiences teaching Korean in Canada for 32 years. His fateful love story with his Korean wife, whom he met at Harvard Graduate School, and the unexpected points of excitement that made him fall for her will add to the intrigue. Additionally, episodes about the world’s only Korean village ‘Lake in the Woods’ in Minnesota, which has been operating for 26 years, will take viewers into the life of Professor Ross King, who has dedicated his life to the Korean language.
Viewers will also meet the math instructor Im Ji-ae, who has an impressive record of 2.79 million students, and the English instructor Joo Hye-yeon, who has maintained the top spot on EBS for 10 years. Im Ji-ae, the first female top instructor in math, will draw attention with her 20-year journey to becoming a top instructor. Joo Hye-yeon’s hidden struggles in maintaining her top position in English for a decade will also pique interest. Various tips shared by these top instructors, from study methods that turned a student who didn’t know the alphabet into a top scorer, to winning strategies for math ladder games, and even guessing techniques, will be revealed.
The only hospital that children beg to go to, the Toy Hospital’s Grandpa Gepetto, Chairman Kim Jong-il, and Dr. Won Deok-hee will appear on ‘You Quiz’. In this episode, Chairman Kim Jong-il will share the story of how he started operating the Toy Hospital for his third life project and his journey of treating 100,000 toys over 15 years without pay. The impressive backgrounds of 12 doctors with a combined 360 years of experience and the candid thoughts of Dr. Won Deok-hee, who is 72 years old but the youngest at 9 years, will add to the interest. Yoo Jae-suk is said to show a ‘dad moment’ while looking at the studio filled with toys. The stories of the Grandpa Gepettos who started a new life to gift children with innocence will be revealed in this episode.
Cha Jun-hwan, the first male figure skater in South Korea to win a gold medal, returns to ‘You Quiz’ after three years to share his thoughts on winning the gold medal. Praised by Yoo Jae-suk as the “face genius of the ice skating world,” Cha Jun-hwan will unveil his story of growing into a legendary character while walking his own path. “I know my destiny at the moment I leap,” Cha Jun-hwan reveals, and he will generously share behind-the-scenes stories from the Winter Asian Games, his diet management tips, and his determination to overcome an ankle injury. Additionally, curiosity will be sparked about the identity of the mysterious smell of a patch that almost made Yoo Jae-suk shed tears. The stories of figure skating prince Cha Jun-hwan, who doesn’t worry about anything beyond doing his best, will all be featured in this episode.
