Actress Jo Min-soo conveys a story of comfort through “Riding Life.”
The Genie TV original drama “Riding Life” (written by Seong Yoon-ah and Jo Won-dong, directed by Kim Cheol-kyu), which will be released on March 3 at 10 PM, depicts the life of a passionate working mom, Jung-eun, who entrusts her daughter’s “7-year exam” riding to her mother, Jia, showcasing the struggles of three generations of women in the competitive Daechi-dong area. With trusted actors like Jeon Hye-jin, Jo Min-soo, Jung Jin-young, and Jeon Seok-ho, and the collaboration of director Kim Cheol-kyu, known for well-made works like “Mother” and “Flower of Evil,” expectations are high.
Jo Min-soo, who showcased her charismatic presence in the “Witch” series and the drama “Method,” presents a friendly face and a unique transformation in “Riding Life.” In the drama, Jo Min-soo plays Jia, a “beginner rider” who enters the riding world at the request of her daughter Jung-eun (played by Jeon Hye-jin). Jo Min-soo will portray the journey of conflict, reconciliation, and growth between the mother and daughter, showcasing their realistic chemistry.
In particular, Jo Min-soo is returning to the small screen after five years. He revealed his reason for participating, stating, “I found the slow-paced stories of human life, rather than fast-paced narratives, to be attractive,” hinting at a drama that serves as a refreshing break in the age of dopamine addiction. He added, “‘Riding Life’ is a story of three generations of women. If you find similarities to your own life within it, I hope you take a deep breath, pause, and reflect on the path you’ve traveled. In our rush to move forward, we may have overlooked precious things. It’s a story that offers us comfort.”
“Riding Life” is also gaining attention as a drama that addresses the recently discussed topics of “7-year exams” and “academy riding.” Jo Min-soo stated, “It’s a drama that captures a part of our reality. Jia is a character who poses questions. Through her eyes, we will see the bittersweet reality and perhaps gain some insights,” raising expectations for Jia’s role in creating subtle tensions among mothers in Daechi-dong.
A romance with Jung Jin-young has also been hinted at. Jo Min-soo will portray a romance with Jung Jin-young, who plays Young-wook, a university professor in charge of her granddaughter’s riding. Jo Min-soo expressed her surprise at the romance, saying, “I was surprised to find out there was a romance, especially with actor Jung Jin-young. While filming our first scene together, it felt like the color of our romance was being established, which was nice. There are heart-fluttering moments, and I’m curious how the viewers will perceive it.”
The Genie TV original drama “Riding Life,” featuring Jo Min-soo’s friendly transformation and adult romance, will be released on March 3 at 10 PM on Genie TV, Genie TV Mobile, and ENA.
