Actors Jeon Bae-soo, Lee Seo-hwan, Yoon Ga-i, and Jo Bok-rae come together as seniors and juniors in the National Intelligence Service in ‘Undercover High School’.
The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama ‘Undercover High School’ (written by Lim Young-bin, directed by Choi Jeong-in), which will premiere in February, tells the story of a National Intelligence Service agent who goes undercover as a high school student to track down the whereabouts of Emperor Gojong's missing gold bars.
‘Undercover High School’ is a collaboration between writer Lim Young-bin, who has been recognized for his solid writing skills through ‘Sketch’ and ‘The Great Show’, and director Choi Jeong-in, who garnered a hot response from viewers with ‘Crazy Love’ and ‘Flowers Bloom at Night’.
In the drama, Jeon Bae-soo plays Ahn Seok-ho, the team leader of the National Intelligence Service's Domestic Team 4. He is warm and humane, serving as a father figure to Jeong Hae-sung (played by Seo Kang-joon). Seok-ho takes in the young Hae-sung in place of a suddenly disappeared senior and struggles to protect him. He fully trusts and supports Hae-sung in whatever he does, becoming a strong pillar for him.
Yoon Ga-i plays Park Mi-jeong, Hae-sung's senior agent in the National Intelligence Service. Mi-jeong is an indispensable core member of the team, responsible for document forgery and hacking necessary for Hae-sung's undercover operation. With an intelligent and calm personality, he brings humor to the team with his chic fact bombardments and delightful banter with the agents.
Jo Bok-rae portrays Go Young-hoon, who possesses a strong youthful appearance but is a junior to Hae-sung in the National Intelligence Service. He is passionate in everything he does and deeply respects and follows Hae-sung. Young-hoon will play the role of Hae-sung's guardian by posing as his uncle on paper while disguised as a high school student.
Lee Seo-hwan, who is gaining attention for his role in the Netflix series ‘Squid Game 2’, plays Kim Hyung-bae, the head of the National Intelligence Service's Domestic Division. With a boisterous personality, he is hot-tempered and has a quirky habit of throwing documents when angry. Kim Hyung-bae is the overall commander of the ‘Undercover High School’ operation, but he is a mysterious character whose allegiance is hard to determine, adding to the drama's intrigue.
Thus, Jeon Bae-soo, Lee Seo-hwan, Yoon Ga-i, and Jo Bok-rae, united as National Intelligence Service agents, are expected to enhance the drama's excitement with their overwhelming performances. There is anticipation for how they will act in the search for the missing gold bars of Emperor Gojong.
